sumer in november

After another long hiatus, the blogging dynamo (psh) that is CSV is back… some things to note:

-put on your licensed Mas-O-Vision© specs because clicking that blurry terd of a thumbnail image will expose you to a first-hand simulation of skating the chicago hot spots with Mason Barnard, but be wary, some viewers may find the level of realism disturbing…

-been collecting footage like pokemon cards {gotta stockpile ‘em all!} and beginning soon throwaway/random clips of the Bill’s riders will be posted to the Bill’s Wheels site and most likely to my veem by default (which will end up here unless, you know, i get lazy again)

-don’t have any new photos to share because we’ve been going it bro-lo (solo) aka no photog even though calvin recently came up on a DSLR so there really is no excuse except that calvin started working full-time [hooray luu-kang] and lanny has been MIA at the sessions [where you at landsharkdoggertron]

-the forum is now fully functioning, you just need to sign up using an email address and change the password within the WordPress framework (using the link they send you)… not sure how to start it off so whoever is bored enough to read this needs to write something somewhere within the forum {literally anything*, so do it} just to attempt to get the ball rolling [oh yeah, if you accomplished this and still couldn't post it's because i have to manually change your role from subscriber to contributor, but as of this post no one is in subscriber limbo]

-also pertaining to becoming a member: once you’re signed up and passworded you can log into WordPress and submit posts that will show up on the home page under “news” (where you’re reading this ya dummy), but only after the post is approved by me; so basically only the most insightful and provocative posts will make it through me, the human filter…{cause ya know i only post the most insightful and provocative things}, but seriously feel free to share whatever you want, maybe include a little information if it’s a video or picture or whatnot so get creative

or not

it’s really up to you…

I think I’ll blogtaro dump here more frequently**

13th iteration… oooh creeeeeepy

Friday, 9 October, 2009

So, I went to the Santa Cruz showing of Flip’s Extremely Sorry last night and truthfully I don’t know how to feel about the video as a whole.  Here’s my breakdown:

Shane Cross- His posthumous tribute part was pure insanity, but  the editors went way too heavy on Imovie-like filters and effects, which kind of changed the intended experience.

Rowley- He got down, per se, on everything and the amount of effort he put into his tricks was apparent throughout his part.  He was even able to make the ever-criticized “intentional hangup” trick legit when he embodied Hitchcock’s Vertigo.

*after his part I began to lose interest (possibly due to the revamped “muska beatz” that were laid down to avoid paying for copyrights to good songs) so I’ll try to be concise*

Louie Lopez- fresh out of kindergarten, sick tricks, but he’s a nug so no one really paid attention

Rodrigo TX- super tech and clean, focus on familiar Barcelona spots, his “jamz” even reflected that he’s hispanic so great job FLIP!

Boulala- joke around footy except for a couple standout clips, used to be hyped on him, not so much anymore

Burnquist- demolished the mega ramp as alluded to, he took it to the next level with his fat ‘no grab’ tricks and later in the video the audience must sit through his base-jumping extravaganza

Luan De Oliviera- I actually really enjoyed his part, super tech, super clean, with some of the most tech grind/manual combos that give Brezinski a run for his money

Curren Caples (seriously FLIP, another baby? your vagina will be ripped in no time)/Euro Montage- couldn’t care less about Caples except that his name is a pretty sweet alliteration, but I actually cannot recall one trick from his part, the Euro part was mind blowing if only for the rape-machine that is Willow, no bigspin down Wallenberg though (very fishy, McEntire you dbaggggg)

Rune Glifberg- awesome part to watch, helmet-less skating that toed the line between “wow” and “pants have been pooped”

Tom Penny- style very reminiscent of Smolik with random clips of him standing in a desert holding an umbrella interspersed throughout the part… seriously though, what the fuck, am I supposed to believe that Penny stands in the desert with his umbrella outstretched often enough for the FLIP filmers to capture these amazing “lifestyle” shots? damn

Lance Mountain- pool skating is lost on me, but the entire theater was cheering the whole time, epic bailzzzzzzz for life

Appleyard- My interest was re-peaked at this point.  His part opens at a miniramp that looks as if it were built by wandering nomads in the middle of nowhere.  His street footage is packin’ and he makes everything look too easy.

David Gonzalez- I didn’t know Michelle Rodriguez could skate

she gets gnar

she gets gnar

I thought FLIP did a great job communicating a semi UK vibe by having Wallace and Gromit-esque claymation intros, although they became arduous to watch during the bulk of the film.  Well ya, that’s all I have to say about the video, it did its job of getting me hyped so overall I enjoyed it.

nugs(long post cause I’m at work)
